The short version: we collect the account details you give us, the audio you upload, and what you listen to, finish, and skip. We use that to pick what plays next. We don't sell it. You can ask us to delete all of it at privacy@roadreel.app.

Who we are

RoadReel is operated by DUX Group LLC, a California limited liability company ("we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect through the RoadReel app and this website, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

Information you give us

Account details — your handle, display name, and email address.
Password — stored only as a cryptographic hash. We cannot read it.
Sign in with Apple — if you use it, Apple sends us an identifier for you and, on your first sign-in only, the name and email address you choose to share. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address.
Audio you upload, along with the title, category, tags, and description you attach to it.
Comments and reports you write.

Information created by using the app

This is the part that makes the feed work. For each reel, we record when you play it, whether you finished it, when you skipped and how far in, and whether you liked, saved, shared, or reported it. We also record who you follow and who you block.

How far into a clip you skip is the single most useful signal we have, and it is why we store the duration rather than just the fact of a skip.

Information collected automatically

IP address — used to rate-limit sign-in attempts and to protect against abuse. Kept in server logs.
Basic request information — timestamps and which parts of the service you accessed.

What we do not collect

We want to be specific rather than vague about this. RoadReel does not collect your location, your contacts, your photo library, your health data, your financial information, or any advertising identifier. The app does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

When you import a video to turn into audio, the app reads only the file you pick, extracts the audio track on your device, and uploads only that. The video itself never leaves your phone.

Why we use it

To run your account and let you sign in.
To store and deliver the audio you publish.
To choose what plays next for you.
To show creators how their reels are doing.
To detect abuse, enforce our guidelines, and respond to reports.
To meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

What we share

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

We share information only in these situations:

Publicly, by your choice. Your handle, display name, the reels you publish, and the comments you write are visible to other users. Play, like, and comment counts on your reels are public.
Service providers who host our servers and store our data, under contract and only to run RoadReel.
Apple, if you use Sign in with Apple, in accordance with Apple's own privacy policy.
When required by law, or where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to prevent serious harm.

If RoadReel is ever sold or merged, information may transfer as part of that transaction. We would tell you before it changed how your information is handled.

How long we keep it

Account information — while your account is open.
Audio and comments — until you delete them, or your account closes.
Listening history — retained while it is useful for recommendations; older records are trimmed automatically.
Server logs — kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
Backups — copies may persist in backups for a short window after deletion.
Records of reports and enforcement — kept as long as needed to run a safe service and to meet legal obligations.

Your choices and rights

You can, at any time:

Change your display name and account details in the app.
Delete any reel you published.
Delete a comment you wrote.
Block another user.
Sign out on any device.

To request a copy of your information, correct it, or delete your account and everything in it, email privacy@roadreel.app from the address on your account. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are in California

California law gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion or correction, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by California law, so there is nothing to opt out of. Use the same address above to make a request.

Children

RoadReel is for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have, we will close the account and delete the information. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email privacy@roadreel.app and we will delete it promptly.

If you are between 13 and 18, you may use RoadReel only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

Security

Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored as salted hashes, never in readable form. Sign-in attempts are rate-limited, and sessions expire.

No system is perfectly secure, and we won't pretend otherwise. If we discover a breach affecting your information, we will notify you as required by law.

Where your information is held

RoadReel's servers are located in the United States. If you use RoadReel from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed there.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. The version and date at the top of this page always show the current one.
